The College of Arts and Sciences wishes to thank all of the individuals who worked as a part of our fundraising team in order to successfully raise over $10 million during the course of the Comprehensive Campaign. “In my short time at Illinois State,I have had the pleasure of meeting many people who have supported the College’s work on this Campaign,” said Dean Olson. “It is clear that this was a team effort, and I would like to express my gratitude to all of those who made this Campaign such a success. The College will continue to reap the benefits of their hard work far into the future.”

President Al Bowman was vital to the success of the College during the Comprehensive Campaign. When the Campaign began, President Bowman was chair of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, where he led by example as both a generous donor and an avid fundraiser. Susan Kern, Vice President for Advancement, devised a campaign strategy and assembled a team to carry the College forward. An integral part of that team was the College’s Director of Development, Dorothy Witte, who helped secure the largest gift in the history of the College—a $2 million gift from four local physicians. The College’s Advancement Team—comprised of Bob Aaron (Marketing and Communications), Kathy Beal (Media Relations), Rebecca Benner (Advancement Services), Julie Goodlick (Alumni Services), and Dave Jorgensen (Graphics)—helped the College implement strategies on multiple levels to reach out to alumni and friends of the College. Rebecca Benner and Pat Grogg also worked hard to bring 206 family donors from the College of Arts and Sciences into the Campaign, which is ahead of the University average for family campaign donors.

The College’s success in the Comprehensive Campaign would not have been possible without the contributions of many external volunteers who provided advice and who campaigned on behalf of the College. The College of Arts and Sciences Executive Roundtable—an external advisory board set up to advise the College on matters related to fundraising and external relations—was extraordinarily helpful in guiding the College through its first campaign. With the close of the Campaign, the Executive Roundtable has changed name and narrowed focus. The newly created College Development Council will serve to advise the College on specific development matters as they arise.

The College also owes a huge debt to its many alumni who served as volunteers on Campaign committees or as Campaign ambassadors. These dedicated individuals, including Campaign honorary chairs and CAS alums Donald McHenry and K. Patricia Cross, helped promote the College and its programs to people across the country.

Thank you to our staff and volunteers.
