Dr. Horvath’s service to the College, University, and professional community has been widely recognized. In 2003, he received the College Outstanding Service Award, and he has served for three years on the College Council. During this time Horvath was elected Council Chair and was responsible for chairing the Combined Leadership Team on the Recruitment and Retention of Underrepresented Groups. Horvath also chaired the College of Fine Arts Dean Search Committee this past year and was a faculty member on the 2001-02 College of Arts and Sciences Dean Search Committee. Currently, he serves on the Domestic Partner Benefits Committee, the College Faculty Status Committee (CFSC), and is active in the American Philosophical Society.
Dr. Doepke has brought her academic expertise in the area of autism research to the benefit of children and families in this community and across the state. She is the founder of the Autism Services program at the Psychological Services Center and the co-founder of the Interagency Autism Spectrum Consortium, the ISU Autism Institute, and the Autism Society of McLean County. Doepke has been asked by the statewide Autism Project to author white papers on autism for state legislators. Not only has her service had a very high impact, but it also represents the best of the University’s commitment to the community.
Dr. Rivadeneyra has made significant contributions by serving as her department’s Diversity Coordinator. She is the co-founder of the Undergraduate Diversity Committee as well as the Psychology Mentorship Program, which matches incoming students of underrepresented groups with experienced students and faculty mentors. In addition, Rivadeneyra serves on the Intercultural Programs and Services Advisory Committee.
In order to be eligible to compete for the Outstanding University Service Award, a faculty member must: 1) be a full-time tenured-track member with at least three years’ employment at Illinois State University; 2) be a past recipient of the Outstanding Service Award (or similar award) in their College, or be nominated for significant University-wide service by a colleague, administrator, or governance body; and 3) receive support for candidacy from both the Department Chair and College Dean, or from a colleague, administrator, or member of a governance body.
To be eligible to compete for the Service Initiative Awards, faculty members must: 1) be a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty member with five or fewer years of University-level service experience at Illinois State University; and 2) receive support for candidacy from both the department chairperson and college dean.
