College Launches Research Support Programs
Associate Dean Sam Catanzaro
with members of the RPRC.
This week marks the formal launching of the College's new research support programs: the Research Enhancement Awards Program and the Travel Supplement Grant Program.  The College asked the Research Proposal Review Committee (RPRC), a committee of elected faculty, to review and provide input on draft guidelines and application forms for the two programs.  "These new research support programs should not only help to reward faculty and raise the College's profile as a research institution, but they should also help in our continuing effort to decrease our dependence on state funding by increasing the level of external funding of research," said Dean Gary Olson.

The Research Enhancement Awards Program will make available on a competitive basis ten awards of $3,000 each to be used to help fund a course release or a graduate research assistant.  The RPRC will be charged with reviewing applications and making recommendations as to which projects should receive these grants.  The Travel Supplement Grant Program makes available grants of up to $500 to supplement travel awards provided by departments.  These two grant programs are in addition to the University Reserach Grant program and other university- and college-wide research support programs.  Applications for both programs will be sent out to all departments in the College next week.
