College Alum Appointed Trustee
Judge Michael McCuskey
College of Arts and Sciences’ alumnus Michael McCuskey (B.S. '70 Political Science) has been appointed by Governor Rod Blagojevich to the Illinois State University Board of Trustees effective immediately and running though January 17, 2011. McCuskey has a distinguished legal career. After graduating from St. Louis University School of Law in 1975, he became a partner in the law firm of Pace, McCuskey, and Galley in Lacon until 1988, when he was elected Circuit Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit. In 1990, he was elected to the Third District Appellate Court where he served until 1998, when he was sworn in as a U.S. District Judge for the Central District of Illinois.
McCuskey has remained highly engaged with the college and university serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 1996-2001, and on the college's Attorneys Advisory Council since 1998. In 2003, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law degree from
Illinois
State. Anne Davis, former president of the Illinois Education Association was also appointed to the Board. "I am delighted to learn of the new appointments to the Board of Trustees," said Dean Olson. "Judge McCuskey's commitment to the college and the university is exemplary, and I believe he will serve our university well. While I have not had the pleasure of working with Ms. Davis, certainly her credentials are impeccable, and I look forward to meeting her soon."
