Concert to Benefit Hurricane Relief
Habitat for Humanity
Students in a Politics and Government Community Service Leadership Seminar are hosting a concert to raise funds for construction of Habitat for Humanity houses in the Hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast. The concert is scheduled for Friday, October 28, at 6:00 p.m. in Capen Auditorium in Edwards Hall on the Illinois State University campus.
Two Illinois State a cappella vocal ensembles—the all-male Acafellaz and the all-female Secondary Dominance—will perform along with two Illinois Wesleyan a cappella groups. Admission is $5 and all proceeds will go to the ISU/IWU Habitat for Humanity collegiate chapter for supplies to build houses in the affected Gulf Coast states. On August 29, Hurricane Katrina destroyed portions of the Gulf Coast, and approximately a month later, Hurricane Rita reached land. Both caused massive flooding and destruction, leaving thousands homeless. The Illinois State students performing October 28 are joining forces with the ISU/IWU Habitat for Humanity chapter to aid fellow Americans in need. Students ask that Illinois State and Wesleyan students, staff and faculty support Habitat for Humanity by attending the October 28 concert. Tickets are available at the door or by e-mailing gmklass@ilstu.edu
