College Holds Forums
AP Forum
The College hosted informative forums last week for administrative-professionals (APs) and non-tenure-track faculty (NTTs). The forums were initiated last year by Dean Olson as a means of promoting openness, transparency, and inclusiveness throughout the College. At both forums, Dean Olson briefed the groups on the current fiscal situation and on the College’s preparation for expanded summer in 2006. The briefing was followed by a question and answer session. At the AP forum, Sarah Walczynski, Manager of the Laboratory for Integrated Learning and Technology, updated everyone on the new computer help ticket system. It was noted that CAS-IT has successfully managed over 1,400 tickets since the system was launched in September. Claire Lamonica, Coordinator of Clinical Experiences in English Education, asked if the College might consider creating a teaching award for administrative professionals. Dean Olson said he would look into that possibility.
The discussion at the NTT forum centered on the implications of expanded summer for NTTs. Dean Olson indicated it would be up to individual departments to determine the role of NTTs in delivering summer courses. “I think those who attended the forums found them to be informative and enjoyable,” said Dean Olson. “It is a pleasure to gather with professionals from across the College and discuss the issues we are facing.”
