Celtic Christmas at the Castle
Tickets are now on sale for WGLT’s Celtic Christmas at the Castle to be held Thursday, December 8 at The Castle Theater in Bloomington. Featuring Bloomsday and SullivanBurton, along with members of Exorna, The Old Men Boys, and other acoustic musicians from the Twin Cities,Peoria, and Champaign, proceeds from this holiday concert benefit the GLT Equipment Fund. Bands are donating their time and talents to participate in a traditional Irish seisun (an informal gathering of musicians playing for their own enjoyment). “It’s like one big jam session, with more fiddles, mandolins, and guitars than you’ll ever see in one place,” said GLT General Manager Bruce Bergethon. “The Castle Theater is filled with comfortable sofas and overstuffed chairs, so it will not only be the best music you’ve heard in a long time—you’ll feel like you’re in your living room. Singing along is encouraged.”

The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by The Music Shoppe and Pro Sound Center, both in Normal. Tickets are $20 with general admission seating. Tickets are available at www.wglt.org, or by calling the GLT Station Studios at 309.438-8910, or at The Castle Theater box office.

WGLT is the NPR/PRI affiliate public ratio station licensed to Illinois State University broadcasting at 89.1 FM in central Illinois and in Peoria at 103.5 FM. GLT offers local jazz programming during the week and blues on the weekend. Bergethon hosts “Acousticity” on Sunday nights from 8-midnight, where listeners can hear traditional Celtic and Irish music along with other acoustic music.
