Fuzzy logic is a logical system introduced in 1965 by Professor Zadir Lofti where something may not be completely true or completely false, but somewhere in between—a statement may have a partial truth value. In the 1995 article, Dr. Ostaszewski and his co-author Richard Derring applied techniques derived from fuzzy logic to actuarial and insurance applications.
Ostaszewski has authored or co-authored two research monographs in mathematics and four research works in actuarial science. His research in mathematics and economics has been published in journals such as the Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, Forum Mathematical, Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, American Economic Review, and the Journal of Business. His research in actuarial science has appeared in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the North American Actuarial Journal, Proceedings of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Journal of Insurance Issues, and other journals.
