State Farm and Country Insurance Honor ISU Actuarial Students

Actuarial Sciences
State Farm Insurance and Country Insurance and Financial Services have honored fourteen of the College’s finest actuarial students for high academic achievements. “Our nationally recognized actuarial program produces some of the best prepared students in the country as evidenced by our high pass rate on the actuarial exam, which is 10 percent above the national average,” said Dean Olson. “State Farm and Country Insurance have been strong supporters of this program and we appreciate the opportunities they continue to provide for our students."

Nine students received State Farm Scholars in Actuarial Science Awards. This award honors students with a grade point average of 3.5 overall and 3.7 in the major, and who place in the top 20 percent overall and top 5 percent in mathematics in national standardized tests. Students receiving this award are Jeremy Harlow, Megan Lamich, Brittany Minkler, William Nussbaum, Shawn O’Kelley, David Prevo, Carol Sorenson, Laura Sudholt, and T.J. Turner. Mary Risius received the State Farm Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Actuarial Science.

Seven actuarial students received scholarships from Country Insurance and Financial Services for top academic performance in the discipline. These students included Brittany Minkler, David Prevo, Shawn O’Kelley, Laura Sudholt, T.J. Turner, Rebecca Weinshenker, and Gary Wierzbicki.
