The Illinois State University Forensics Team made ISU history at the American Forensic Association (AFA) National Individual Events Tournament held recently inFlorida—four individual national champions were named. These include: Patrick Carberry, in Program Oral Interpretation, Annie Kincade, in After Dinner Speaking, and Katelyn Wood and Kyle Schultz in Duo Interpretation. Overall, the team placed 4th against rival competitors Western Kentucky, University Texas-Austin, and Bradley University. Two weeks later, at the National Forensic Association (NFA) National Individual Events Tournament in Wisconsin the Illinois State Speech Team did it again.
Annie Kincade and Kyle Schultz were named national champions in After Dinner Speaking and Informative Speaking, respectively. Overall, the team secured the rank of “third in the nation” out of the 83 schools competing, maintaining a string of top three finishes in the nation that began in 1995. “The team’s performance at NFA is a follow-up to their recent outstanding performance at the American Forensic Association (AFA) national tournament,” said Dr. Joseph Zompetti, Assistant Professor of Communication and Director of Forensics. “We are very excited about the team’s continued success throughout the year, and their victories at the AFA and NFA national tournaments certainly represent their hard work.”
