The station also earned two honorable mentions for Outstanding Newscast and Outstanding Videography. “The TV-10 News at Noon,” honored for Outstanding Newscast, was produced by Kristen Fishel, senior, directed by Paige Blair, senior, and featured the work of juniors Lauren Pacini and Paige Nevius, as well as seniors Alexis Cory, Jake Flannigan, Leslie Kearby, Katie Kerke, and Christine Van Fleet. This honored newscast integrated coverage of the identification of the body of then-missing Illinois State student Olamide Adeyooye and the campus riots that followed the White Sox’s World Series victory. For Outstanding Videography, photographer Kate Pefley, junior, was honored for her entry featuring a photo-essay on a local blacksmith.
TV-10 has been on the Illinois State’s campus since 1974. This student-centered program allows students to produce every aspect of a live daily newscast, with a potential audience of 100,000 on local cable. TV-10 is the only television newscast produced entirely in the Bloomington-Normal market. In 2005, TV-10 won three Student Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters’ Association.
