Critique is an online journal of critical analysis by students of politics and provides emerging scholars the opportunity to exchange ideas and new possibilities for democracy and justice. The editors firmly believe that budding scholars introduce valuable ideas that must be heard in order to understand the changing nature of our global community. Thus, the journal features articles about politics that take seriously the growing opportunities for social change and new possibilities for enacting policy nationally and internationally. Critique is published bi-annually in the spring and fall. This student journal features articles by both graduate and undergraduate students from around the world. Current and previous issues can be accessed at http://lilt.ilstu.edu/critique/
Professors and other faculty members recommend both graduate and undergraduate student papers for publication in Recounting the Past. Copies of this journal are distributed to donors of the History Department Foundation, other public and private universities and colleges in the region, as well as high schools, teachers, and new majors. Publication of the journal is made possible through donations. According to Department of History Chair Roger Biles, "Recounting the Past highlights the best work of our history, history education, and social science education majors. The publication of the journal underscores the importance of good writing to historians, just as it affirms the University's commitment to improving the written communication skills of all students."
