Nassar is chair and professor in the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State. Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, professor Nassar earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. He also holds a B.A. from Jacksonville University and an M.A. from the University of South Florida. Nassar joined Illinois State in 1978 and since has established himself as a leading authority on the politics of the Middle East. He has published many books and articles in highly rated publications and has been translated into about a dozen other languages. Among his many books are Globalization and Terrorism: The Migration of Dreams and Nightmares and Intifada: Palestine at the Crossroads. Nassar has chaired a number of national and international conferences on the Middle East. In the past, he has also served as editor of Arab Studies Quarterly, and currently serves on its editorial board.
