Dr. Felissa Lashley

Dr. Felissa Lashley

Dr. Felissa Lashley, CAS Hall of Fame member and Dean of Rutgers College of Nursing, was one of four panelists in the New Jersey Public Television special, “Remaking American Nursing.” The half-hour program addresses both the nursing shortage and the nursing faculty shortage.  “The nursing faculty shortage is important,” Dr. Lashley stated, “because without nursing faculty to teach nursing students, there will be no nurses.” The shortage of nursing faculty can be attributed to the discrepancy in salary difference between nurses in the field and nurses that work for colleges and universities. The special aired on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. and encore broadcasts were aired Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12 noon and Saturday, Nov. 4 at 12 noon. The program can be viewed online at http://www.njn.net/community/specialinterest/health/remakingnursing/ .
