The College of Arts and Sciences joined thousands of revelers in celebrating ISU's Founders Day on February 15. President Bowman, members of the Board of Trustees, community leaders, and ISU faculty, staff, students, and alumni came together for the Illinois State University Sesquicentennial kickoff. The celebration began with a bell-ringing ceremony in the Brown Ballroom. Metcalf Laboratory School students donned red hats sporting the ISU logo and rang jingle bells as they circled the room. A bell symbolizing the Old Main Bell located on the ISU quad was rung 150 times as highlights of the University’s many points of pride were read. “Each time I return to the Illinois State campus, it feels like I’m coming home,” said retired Judge Chuck Witte, Chair of the CAS Community Advisory Board. “I am proud to be an alumnus of this great university.” Click Read More for additional photos.

LaDonna M. Carlton, Chicago Advisory Board Member and 2007 Hall of Fame Inductee

The College of Arts and Sciences Chicago Advisory Board met on Friday at the Illinois State University Foundation Office in Chicago. The purpose of the Board is to balance the internal input that the Dean receives from department chairs, faculty, and the College Council with perspectives of people from the Chicago-area community who have a keen interest in CAS endeavors and a vested interest in the results produced. Leslie Bertagnolli serves as Chair of the Board, and Dale Perona serves as Vice Chair. The Chicago Board invited Chuck Witte, who serves as Chair of the CAS Community Advisory Board in Bloomington-Normal, to join them for a discussion of initiatives that the Community Advisory Board has established. "Since a high percentage of our alumni live in or near Chicago," said Dean Olson, "I am confident that our alumni there will find creative ways to become actively involved in the College's many excellent programs."
