| Thursday, September 21 | Two public events on the Illinois State University campus will focus on the problem of domestic violence in connection with the national "It's Time to Talk" Day on Thursday, September 21. A press conference in the Founder's Suite in the Bone Student Center from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. will feature abuse survivors who will talk about the impact of domestic violence on their lives and the importance of “taking a moment to talk” about this issue in our homes, communities, schools, and workplaces. Following the press conference will be a session entitled “Healthy Relationships,” presented by Mark Kotte (Normal Police Department) and Yadira Ruiz (YWCA Stepping Stones Program) in the Prairie Room North in BSC. "Dating violence does exist," said Dr. Alison Bailey, Director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program at ISU. "So it's very important for young people, especially young women, to be able to recognize when behavior is not okay and to know that there are resources here on campus to assist them."
