This spring, the Department of Geography-Geology’s newly formed Institute for Geospatial Analysis and Mapping (GEOMAP) will offer its first courses: two Introduction to ArcGIS I classes. The first will be held on May 8 and 9, and the second class is scheduled for June 12 and 13. The classes are open to ISU faculty, staff, students, and the community at large. ESRI’s ArcGIS is the most commonly used Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software in North America. GIS is utilized widely by different disciplines and industries for geospatial analysis and mapping. ISU’s Institute is one of only two campuses in Illinois where instruction is available from an ESRI-authorized ArcGIS instructor. Interested persons may enroll online at www.geo.ilstu.edu (GEOMAP). For additional information, please contact Gretchen Knapp at 309-438-5556 or geknapp@ilstu.edu. “We are fortunate to have a qualified instructor in Gretchen Knapp,” said Institute Director Dagmar Budikova. “I hope that people throughout central Illinois will take advantage of this opportunity.”
