Commenting on the fear expressed by some in the media regarding the dangers of excessive texting among teens, Sullivan added “There are more important issues, such as access to education, inadequate healthcare, two wars and an imploding economy, that pose much greater risks to our young people.”
Sullivan's views on the texting phenomenon were also quoted in a recent Bloomington Pantagraph article. “Its use is prolific and is a valuable tool for social interaction, especially for the youth,” Sullivan said. He also added that while text messaging is efficient, face-to-face communication is better for communicating full-fledged ideas.
