Professor Hilary Justice, Department of English, was the featured speaker prior to a reception on June 18 celebrating Milner Library’s new exhibit, “Picturing Hemingway: A Writer in His Time.” “Illinois State University is very fortunate to have someone of Dr. Justice's caliber serving on its faculty,” said Jean MacDonald, Literature and Languages Librarian at Milner Libary. “She is a well-respected Hemingway scholar and one who manages to make Ernest Hemingway's life and artistry accessible to the average individual as well as the student of American literature.” The exhibit was created for Hemingway’s centennial birthday in 1999 by the National Portrait Gallery’s Chief Historian, Frederick C. Voss. Photographs were chosen by Mr. Voss for the exhibit to narrate a timeline of Hemingway’s life. The exhibit will run from June 8 to September 30 and is currently located on the second floor of Milner Library.

Dr. Susan Beegel, editor of The Hemingway Review, will deliver a keynote address, “Hemingway’s Personal Farewell to Arms,” at 6:30 p.m. on September 3 in Milner Library.
